Today there are more details about the story I commented on yesterday, a 2007 incident in which American troops appear to have massacred a dozen innocent civilians (including two Reuters journalists) and wounded two children in an indiscriminate shooting spree in Iraq. The day after the incident two journalists with Big Noise Films interviewed residents of the area where the killings took place, and the stories told by eye witnesses are very different than official military accounts of the incident.
Video footage of the entire incident (which I presented in its entirety yesterday) contains very disturbing images. Perhaps the most disturbing were images of a Bradley tank running over the body of one of those killed in the hail of bullets that rained down from the Apache gunship. Today, those images become even more disturbing as we learn from the accounts of civilians on the scene that the tank actually ran over a man who, though wounded, was still alive. It gets worse. As shocking to the mind as it might be to drive a tank over a wounded man, it is even more shocking that such a thing should produce a chuckle in two American soldiers. Listen for yourself.

Disgusting. We know what we should do, but we thought we did it when we elected Barack Obama. Still, the killing goes on.
