After reading this post I went back and read the story of Adam and Eve in my NIV Bible. For the first time in my life the story made sense. Thanks for this post.

The Adam and Eve story, with minor variations, exists in many religious traditions, not just the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths. I have never heard it better interpreted. This article gives new meaning to the story I have heard at least a thousand times.

We have all heard the Adam and Eve story a million times but I have never heard it explained in this way. All of the explanations I have ever heard say that the story is about the fall of human beings from grace because of disobedience to God, and the punishment that God gave all of us because of original sin. Did I not understand the story right the first million times I heard it? Isn't it just about people being disobedient to God's commandments? I didn't read anything in the bible about poison knowledge of any of the things you see in the story. I am wondering who is missing the point of the story.
