Morning, noon and night were the only times Atlanta area teenagers listened to Quixie In Dixie—Atlanta’s AM rock powerhouse during the 1960s and early 1970s. Every channel button on the Delco radio in my ‘64 Falcon was set to WQXI, and if the engine was running the radio was on.
Tonight I climbed into a time machine and was transported back to Atlanta in the summer of 1969. With the click of a mouse, courtesy of Airchexx.com, it was July 20, 1969, and suddenly Randy Robins was again behind the mic in the WQXI broadcast booth. For more than two hours Robins, Mike Dineen, Simon Trane and the other legendary Quixie jocks poured out of my speakers as though time had for forty years stood still—all with the same color and flavor that made WQXI the inspiration for the hit television series WKRP In Cincinnati.
Whether you relied on the KOMA playlist to romance your girl at an Oklahoma City drive-in movie or fixed your tuner on WVON’s Chicago Soul… wherever in America radio was a part of your life, you can likely dial up a plate of memories at Airchexx.com. It’s free, except for the hours you’ll spend there.

What, no Skinny Bobby Harper? I can’t find him at all on the Airchexx site. Would love to hear him again.
Glad I found airchexx.com. Thanks for the post.
