Christ told us that the greatest commandment is to love God, and the second commandment is to love one another. We are, Christ tells us, to love even our enemies. If these are the greatest commandments, it follows that harboring hate for our fellow man must be among the greatest sins.
What's it like to really hate someone? Unfortunately, too many people, including Christian people, know the answer to that question from personal experience.
Hate is quite distinct from anger, fear and resentment. Hate is "terrifying and seductive, unencumbered by emotion or thought or
conscience. It is amoral, detached, the stinger on the end of satan’s
abdomen," as described so well by PreacherLady, the author of "With My Face To The Rising Sun" blog.
Those who have found such hate in their hearts, the perfect hatred spoken of in Psalms 139:22, will find PreacherLady's thoughts authentic… and helpful. Read them here.
